چکیده

Although densification of urban areas is being proposed as a sustainable urbanisation strategy, frameworks for detailed large-scale analysis potentials and their evaluation are lacking. A geospatial simulation framework presented to assess evaluate at the neighbourhood level already built-up residential areas. The focus on post-war neighbourhoods, which particularly promising densification. Neighbourhoods localised using based literature architectural designs, estimated different archetypes strategies. Potentials simulated national scale supervised archetype classification. embeddedness into current mobility infrastructure used proxy evaluating sustainability developed tested Switzerland. Depending additional inhabitants populating neighbourhoods range between 4–15 % population. More than half this potential located in central well connected by public transportation. approach suitable assessing spatially explicit prioritising locations. We show that countries with high number well-connected locations, considerable opportunities could be realised

Urban Energy Simulation of a Social Housing Neighbourhood in Bogota, Colombia

High demographic dynamics and greater poverty in developing countries carry the urgent need to provide low cost housing to the poorest in urban regions. In Colombia the development of social housing settlements is characterized by two deficits, a quantitative one (related to urban density) and a qualitative one (related to indoor building conditions). It is therefore imperative to identify solu...
